One intersting destination catching my attention is Kiskenda Cave. This cave is located in Jatimulyo, Girimulyo, Kulon Progo district,about 16 km from Minggir sub-district or 37 km from the downtown of Yogyakarta.
Actually, since a long time I wanted to come to this place. Initially, I thought Kiskenda Cave is only the name of a place in Ramayana, the place where Mahesasura and Lembusura lived and met their death at the hands of the man apes,Subali. However, Kiskenda Cave is a bit of a beautiful reality in the bowel of the earth.
Kiskenda Cave not only consists of the cave, but also a play yard, open hall and a camping ground. There is no special equipment that should be used to explore this horizontal cave since people already build a path inside it. Reliefs of the battle between Subali defeating Mahesasura and Lembusura engraved beautifuly to welcome the tourists. The writing of Goa Kiskenda proves that you are at the entrance of the cave.
Some lights are deliberately installed to help the tourists enjoy the beautiful stalactite and stalagmite inside it. Down there, the sounds of splash water sounds so obvious. It is a sign of an underground river flowing. Not only the stunning stalactite and stalagmite, this cave also has some hermitage points. At least there are 9 points along 1,5 km. This cave is like a house for the hermit. It's far away from the hustle-bustle, solemnly contemplates in the bowels of the earth.
How to get there:
Exotic Goa is located approximately 16 km from Minggir Sub-district and 37 km from the downtown of Yogyakarta. If you come from the Yogyakarta, take the road straight towards Kentheng. From Kentheng, you also still have to follow the road signs. They will take you there.
